Mackinaw City, Bridge and Island
Monday, June 26
We packed up and departed the house at 9:30. Just north of Berne we had to pull over for a
slight adjustment to the car top carrier to secure the front from flapping and
stopped the noise.
The trip through Michigan went fast, but as we approached
Indian River we ran into a mist that increased into rain. As we pulled into Mackinaw City the rain
turned back into a heavy mist that allowed us to visit some of the shops
downtown.
We ate at O’Reilly’s Irish Pub
and enjoyed a hearty meal of Shepherd’s Pie and Meatloaf. Bo enjoyed the leftover meatloaf.
This is Weinerlicious
We walked along the shore of Lake Huron picking up a few
pretty rocks. It was windy and
cool. We smelled the lilac bush before
we saw it and Nan commented it was the first one she had smelled in 60
years. We had fun watching the cars and
trucks crawl across the Mackinaw Bridge.
Mackinaw Lighthouse
We crossed the bridge ourselves and found our hotel on the
east side of St Ignace with a beautiful of Mackinac Island. As the sun set it came out of the clouds and
lit up the island. We even saw a
vertical rainbow above Lake Huron.
Tomorrow we are taking the Ferry to Mackinaw Island. Can't wait!
Small foot print for such a large wiener!
